materialize

by. rsy

most words

are forgotten

some infuse the air

with a scent, that dissipates

as the night descends

then there are the words

that replay in our heads

make us question our perspective, thinking process,

the very way we exist in context

specific words, paired with tone,

constrain our throats

or lift years of unconsciously accepted weight off our chests

bring our blood to boil

or produce waterworks that pour out from buried depths

keep us tamed in the shadows

or launch us into the horizon to realize our potential

beget fountains of creation transforming tragedies

or squash dreams once dear and full of fantasies

paralyze and numb us to our surroundings

or generate warmth that slowly spreads and glows

drain us and allow gravity to reduce is into unmovable bricks and invisible flecks

or levitate us to the heights of involuntary pep in our step

words materialize in our bodies…

it is no wonder that the Word is alive

the Word is our weapon

and we are instructed to use our words

with brevity or generosity

words break us

words hold us

words mold us

words made us
